Dominique Cardon, Directeur de recherche émérite au CNRS, a reçu la Médaille d´argent du CNRS en 2011. Membre du groupe de recherche international Researchers into Dyes in History and Archaeology, elle est l´auteur de nombreux ouvrages et articles sur l´histoire des teintures naturelles et l´identification des colorants dans les textiles archéologiques qu´elle étudie. Elle collabore régulièrement à l´organisation des International Symposiums and Exhibitions on Natural Dyes (ISEND), congrès interdisciplinaires réunissant des centaines de passionnés des colorants naturels venus des quatre coins du monde. Elle a reçu en 2006 la Médaille de l´UNESCO "Penser et construire la Paix" pour cette action. Natural indigo from indigofera leaves (Indigofera tinctoria L.). Produced in India. Blue shades. Historical pigment. This pigment can be mixed with all kinds of binders for fine arts, leisure or decorative coatings.
